Campagnolo clothing

I quite fancy some of the new Campagnolo clothing as it looks 8) . However, I can't find any in any shops near me, so I can't really judge the quality (which I assume will be decent, it being Campagnolo and all) or the sizing. Would I be right in assuming that, as an Italian make, the sizing will be on the small size? I've got some Gore gear in medium, which fits fine (although I wouldn't want it any smaller) and a Protective jersey in medium which is skin tight (no way it would fit if any smaller) - on that basis, I'm guessing that I might be a large in Campag terms. I'm 40" chest, 32" waist.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Also, anyone know where I can find this stuff in shops? So far, the only source I've found is Jim Walker's website. I live in Edinburgh, but get down to the Lake District every so often.

Thanks,
Philip

Think you might be right with a large. I have a campag jersey that I bought about 2 years ago. I got a large. I am 5' 10", 40" chest and 32-34" waist.

Not sure which one you are after but I noticed that my LBS had some in at the weekend (including the pale blue heritage one that I really really want!!). They are not showing them on their site but might be worth a call (they are helpful when I go in but I have no idea what their mail order side is like).

I have a couple of jerseys from last year and a gillet from the year before. I am 40 chest and the Large fits me fine.

The Bicycle Works Tri shop in South Clark Street, Edinburgh used to stock Campag clothing but I don't see it listed on their website at the moment. Could be worth a call to check though.

If you ever get to London I know Condor stock it.
  • I like the look of the Campag stuff, bit definitely sized on the the small side, so best to try (or find a place that'll do returns). I found my Campagnolo top was a bit short in the body. The shorts were awful, sandpaper for chamois and the leg grippers were just too tight. It was well made though. That was a few years back, so I suspect the've improved.

I have some metal series shorts, top and gloves from a couple of years ago and it isn't that bad for sizing. Nowhere near as critical as Assos for example, it's not as close fitting but very comfortable in my instance anyway.

Try bikewearhouse dot co at clachan of campsie, they stock campag.

I was in London last week and went to Condor. The campag clothing was of good quality and the heritage range is gorgeous, esp the pale blue. Yellow with pink sleeve a bit iffy.

On size I usually wear medium, sometimes large. 40" chest 33" wasit. Bought an italian Bianchi top 2 weeks agao, its XL and still tight.

Thanks guys - I've plumped for using mail order and taking a punt on large as my size. I was after a jersey (yes, that pale blue heritage one looks superb) and a gilet. I'm getting the jersey from Jim Walker as there were a couple of clearance items there that I wanted and that gave me the free postage.

Bizarrely, the UK as a whole only got 2 of the gilet I wanted (Raytech) in blue/large (which makes it pretty exclusive in my book!) and they both went to Condor. Phoned Condor to be told that they're sold out, but the sales guy persuaded me to give the convertible jacket a try, which is basically the gilet with detachable sleeves. I'm never entirely convinced by the two items for the price of one argument, but he assured me it works well, so we shall see when it shows up...

Ah well, that's my clothing budget for the year blown in one fell swoop!

Thanks Brian - I'll have to get myself up there. I've cycled past a few times, but haven't been in for ages.
