I am getting cold feet on my morning commutes and noticed this morning that my feet where the only cold part of me.
Any recommendations for some socks that will keep my toes warm!

A decent pair of overshoes would be better, plus maybe a second pair of socks if necessary :D

For winter I invested in some lovely DeFeet Woolie Boolies. These are excellent and I now use them for hiking as well as cycling. However, even with two pairs on I was still getting cold feet on really bitter mornings. I need something to cover the open mesh fronts on my shoes.

A history of poor circulation on my dad's side of the family probably doesn't help either.

Woolie Boolies +1. Fantastic socks but they will only work ime if you wear them with shoes or cycling boots which are a little larger than your normal size. Only then will you create 'warm air space' and keep your feet warm.

I've tested a few shoe covers this winter and my faves have been these: http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/category/ ... over-30856

They're not waterproof but they keep your feet warm over a wide range of temperatures without clamminess.

I've been using Endura Thermolite socks all winter and they work a treat.

I agree that wearing overshoes is a good idea.

Yep, a size larger shoe to cater for the extra thickness in sock as well as allowing air to circulate. The straps on the shoe and overshoe needs to be fairly relaxed as well - not too tight to avoid cutting off circulation.

In sub-zero temps, I give my feet a good dousing of deep heat. Works a treat. However, your work colleagues may give you a wide berth as deep heat is not the most sexiest of eau de toilettes. Miss Campagsarge reckons its smells even worse than my Old Spice. She has more check than a rhinos bottom has that one.
  • Another vote for woolie boolies. they're merino wool so they don't pong either. if it's really cold then i also wear my Tarmac H20 overshoes. i haven't had cold feet all winter even in -4 degrees

Assos winter socks. A touch expensive but a great piece of kit and your feet will be warm.

These are a different way to tackle the cold feet issue. They stop the cold air getting to your feet but don't look daft with shorts or 3/4 tights.

Found a nice cheap fix for this at the weekend. I covered the mesh parts of my shoes with some black duct tape; perfect!

  • I get really cold feet in winter... so much so that woolie boolies don't even cut it. had to get some thermal ski socks that come up to your knees to keep my feet warm, and I think they work because they promote circulation from the calves downwards... so those + neoprene overshoes keeps just about keeps my feet warm!
