I've just picked up my new Pedalforce RS2 frame and forks from the Parcelforce depot.
It looks an absolute beauty and weighs in at a mere 1040gms (55cm).

And what a bargain, the total cost for the frame and forks was £366 which includes VAT and import duty.

Hopefully I'll get it built up in time for the Fred Whitton. Most of the parts will be coming from my previous bike.

I see the frame employs FACT engineering. Is this the same type as used by Specialized?

Very nice, i've seen the plain black ones and i think that the red looks a lot nicer!

What parts and wheels you got to go on it? I was tempted too by it, but the waiting time and other factors weighed in against, but that is truly a lovely frame!

I will mainly be using Campag Record parts and Easton Ascent II wheels from my present bike, they are a couple of years old but in perfect working order.
I have picked up a nice new cf seatpost off ebay, to go with my red Fizik Arione saddle.

I just need to get a headset and a longer stem and I can start building.

It should make a pretty light bike when it's finished, hopefully sub 16lbs.
I still doubt that this will make up for my lack of fitness, which is due to spending most of my freetime fitting the shiny wooden floor you can see in the pictures.

I'm not sure about the FACT engineering, the only other place I have seen that is on Specialized bikes.
Is it possible that these frames are built in the same factory as Specializeds?

That looks pretty smart. I ordered one as well (yet to arrive)! Did you order the matching carbon forks as well and if so, what are they like when hung onto the frame?

Beautiful frame. I want one - how did you get it for £366 all up? PF website says $800 just for the frame?

It does look a very nice frame, I currently have a naked ZX3 waiting to be built in my shed.

The price of £366 comes from taking part in the PF group buys they run on the website. Rather than $800 the more people sign up the lower the price, for the last two about 200 people have participated each time reducing the price by almost half. I believe they also did a group buy on the Red gruppo this time as well. It seems to work well it is just a pity no one in the UK does a similar thing, from reading other forums ADK in Taiwan who make the frames allegedly quoting less than $200 per frame in bulk.

I'm really please with my ZX3 and as it was C+ bike of the year a couple of years ago and has been revised since it can't be that bad.

I took advantage of the SRAM Red offer which was in conjunction with the Group Buy RS2 frame/fork. It was offered at what I considered a very good price and enough to make me try it out and make the change from Campag.

Time will tell if I am right, but nothing ventured nothing gained - I don't want to be a dinsoaur all my life

As Justyn mentioned, the frameset was purchased in the Pedalforce Group Buy deal.
The frame was $450 + $30 for the red paint job. The forks were another $95.

The rest of the cost was shipping, insurance and VAT.

I was pleasantly surprised that the VAT bill wasn't as high as I expected. For some reason they didn't charge import duty.

The VAT bill was £31 + £8 for Parcelforce to collect it.

Unfortunately I didn't get photos of the red forks, but they look really nice when fitted to the bike.
I'm stuck on an oil rig in the middle of the North Sea at present, but I'll get the bike built as soon as I get home and post some photos.

Top Bhoy - any sign of your frame yet? Mine came direct from Singapore so I thought you might have got yours before me. Perhaps they have to send them to the States to fit the groupset.

I took the SRAM Red offer to fit onto it - but it wasn't top of my plans to actually get a bike this year (initially I only intended to have the frame and forks as it was a good deal in the group buy :D ) and wasn't in the budget for a quick build. It will need a decent set of wheels to do it justice so I reckon it will be later this year before its finished. Then again......watch this space I guess!!

I got mine at the weekend I can't believe how light that frame is. What great value for money that group buy is!

I'm going to strip my Bianchi of its Ultegra groupset and wheels and put them onto the RS2. I'll probably not get this done until late May though.

It was going to be Chorus but I thought I'd try it out - I wouldn't like to disparage it without having knowledge of it. :D

Seriously, I don't think it will cost any more than the cost of Chorus I reckon - so I thought I'd like to try something new and different. If its no good, SRAM won't be getting recommended on this forum

Here's a picture of an RS2 that I've just built up for a mate. It's running SRAM Force, Fulcrum Zero's and FSA Handlebar/stem/seatpost. He's rather happy with it.

Could someone please explain how the group buy thing works? Ta

Basically PedalForce agree a bulk price buy on a frame with a Taiwanese manufacturer. They then work out how much margin they can make given a certain number of people buying said frame. Then advertise it to all and sundry that if they get 200 folks signed up the price for the frame will be, say $450. If they only get 150 people signed up the price might be $500. Etc. Etc...

You're too late for the current Group Buy but they offer them regularly when they release a new frame.

    Cheers, Tim
