Hi

Was out on a ride last week when I noticed towards the end that my front suspension was playing up. It was if the suspension was locked (which it wasnt!)

However, when I engaged the front brake, the suspension worked a good as new!! Any idea why this is??

It's a Giant Terrago with the above forks, and Giant MPH brakes.

Cheers in advance!

sounds like they need some lubrication.

    service time.

if new take it back and get it sorted but the selling shop.

I'd suggest that shop-servicing Suntour forks is uneconomic, as you can pick up XCR's for around £35!

A drop of oil around the seals wouldn't go amiss though.

    Hi,

I've just returned from a ride, with exactly the same problem (AGAIN!) on exactly the same bike, with exactly the same fork, determined to search the forum and get to the bottom of this problem!

It tends to happen in the wet - in the dry, I never have a problem. I've only had the bike 6 months, and although used a fair bit, not excessively. I keep the fork seals well oiled and greased, but it still doesn't stop the problem in the wet.

Is this is a common problem with forks generally ... or is it that the Suntours are a bit rubbish?! (I suspect the latter, and will probably need to upgrade, but can't afford to do so just yet). In the meantime, is it a question of keeping them well lubed ... and can anyone suggest some good grease to use?

    Cheers

Does it have a lockout dial? If so, they can come away from the shaft underneath it. There is a fix on the Suntour web page.
