I have just purchased a set of itm millenium 4ever bars which are carbon fibre, along the back of the bars where the stem has been clamped, there is a whitening on the surface, which i pressume is through overtightening, should i be concerned? :?

    Hi there.

Hate to burst your bubble, but I'm pretty sure that the millennium 4ever bars are aluminium with a black anodised coating - not carbon. They are very good bars though.

If the whitening is just surface scratches from the clamp then I wouldn't worry too much about it, but check how deep they are. I did brake a set of ITM alu bars last year, and they snapped without any warning...

Personally though, I wouldn't trust second hand bars - especially if you don't know what you're getting.

    Cheers, Andy

These are Carbon wrapped around the centrefor extra strength, they are largely aluminium. You can see where there are indents from the clamp, there is no cracking as such. Anybody else have any thoughts?

the bars are known as ITM Super Over Carbon wrap bars; millenium with a carbon wrap in the centre
