I have a spare pair of Fulcrum 7s (105 10spd hub) I'd like to use on my hybrid with a 9sp Shimano Deore cassette. Will the cassette fit and if not, is there any kind of adaptor I could use?
cheers
Grant

Yeh, it'll be fine, just remember to remove the 10spd spacer from the wheel (10spd cassette is actually slightly narrower than 9spd) before you fit the 9 speed cassette.

A 10 speed cassette will fit on a 9 speed freehub with a spacer. On shimano hubs, the 105 and ultegra hubs take both 9 and 10 speed. 10 speed DA will only take 10 speed casettes.

The difference is that the spines on the freehub are deeper on 10 speed only hubs. I am not sure about Fulcrum wheels but you will soon know if to trial fit the cassette. If it is 10 speed only, then a 9 speed will not go over the spines.
I have only two things to say to that; Bo***cks

The Mechanic is right but perhaps more detail than you need

Like the dragon said, assuming you have a 10sp cassette fitted to the wheel right now, when you take it off you'll find a spacer behind it (big washer approx 1.5mm thick). You only need this for a 10sp cassette, so take it off and fit your 9sp cassette without it.

Interestingly, the latest DA 10 speed hub is now fitted with a wider freehub
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
