Well I've decided that my £1k will be spend in Merlin's!

Just wondering what difference is there between the 853 and Tig Team SL Easton in quality and which would be best?
I was advise that the 853 is the best steel there is, but there doesn't seem to be the option in 17/19" for the 853 even though there is the option in the standard 853 build.
So is the sl easton just as good?

Tig SL is aluminium and lighter, 853 is steel and heavier. Both have different ride feels.0

Excellent bikes, I love my team tig sl. Got it down to a little over 23lb's (with flat pedals).
The Aluminium version got best £1000 hardtail award in the last WMB awards. Other than that I guess its just down to the charateristics of the two different materials. As said before.*Rock Lobster Team Tig SL (22lb 14oz)

Right I'll try both with a view that the 853 is probably the better buy of them both.
Also choosen to change the XC717 for 719 as I'll be using it on some rocky Welsh trails!0 -
Just got off the phone with the guys at Merlin and the 853 is at least six weeks away for 17/19" frames
Seems it team tig or nowt as I can't wait six weeks.0
