Hi i am looking for pair of slick tyres for my sx trail as i will be doing a long distance charity ride and i have atomlab pimp rims,
i was wondering what are the thinnest i could fit on there and , in some reviews the slick tyres have been quoted "not the fastest slicks " what ones should i look for ?
What are the schwable kojak tyres like they seem very highly rated ?
Cheers Joe

I swear by continental sport contacts. I've used my current pair for almost 1400 miles now and they are wearing very nicely. Conti make them 1.6" or 1.3", I have the 1.6" because the bigger volume makes them more comfortable over my local (very rough!) roads. Grip is confidence inspiring due to the lovely even radius and good compound etc and I've run them as high as 75psi with no problems.
a pair can be had from 'highonbikes' on eBay for under £30 including tubes, and there is a 12 month warranty against punctures. I've never had one! they aren't the lightest or thinnest of slicks but I've traded off the weight for reliability (which is probably ideal for your long rides)
...and no, I dont work for continental.

I've been using the 1" Specialized All Condition Pro, they will take 100+ psi and had no probs with punctures or bunny hopping kerbs.
The higher psi seems to make them flyers. Tried the Schwalbe Kojaks but they weren't as quick*Rock Lobster Team Tig SL (22lb 14oz)

I run 1" Spec ACPros at 120 psi (the rated maximum) on my commute bike and they are very good. As the guy who sold them said to me "the fastest you can make your mountain bike go" They are ultra-thin & look good too I thinkroad0 -

I have an 06 enduro which also has atomlab DHR's and I used it for commuting for a few months on maxxis xenith 1.5" slicks. pump em up to around 70psi and they fly! no problems with punctures and they fit the rims fine.If you dont ride in the rain, you dont ride0

nice so you had the 1.5 what tubes did you use i see on Chain reaction people pump them up to 110PSI0

Used some michelin lightweight xc tubes, gave the bike real point and squirt acceleration! If you dont ride in the rain, you dont ride0

I have been using a pair of schwalbe city jets which were only £23 inc tubes from wiggle.
They seem good but havent had comparison of the others. Been running at the suggested max which is 6 bar. I like the idea of the contis that will run 100psi + but guess these are more expensive.
that said I can ride in 27th and quickly run out of steam / rotationsal leg speed at about 35mph. Whats needed is longer gearing or bigger rims0
