Van R 36 funny noise

I've just noticed a funny noise comming from my 2007 Van R 36. The forks are nice and smooth when I compress them but when they return, just before they fully extend, there is a kind of rubbing/grating noise/feel.

The forks feel fine to ride, as when I'm on the bike the forks aren't often fully extended due to sag. I've lifted up the wiper seals and the foam oil seal, there is no visible debris and the foam oils seals are still wet with oil.

I've ridden the forks for about a year now, is it time for a full service? I was going to get them serviced after a trip to the alps in july, does it sound like I need them serviced before that?

Any advice is appreciated.

id say have them serviced, but thats what i would do.
