I'm looking for a water proof/resistant jacket that I can keep in a jersey pocket when I'm on hard training rides.

The perfect one would be light, waterproof, breathable / very well vented, a tight fit, either clear or a bright colour, and it would pack up very small. Also, cheap is good if possible.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

The Assos Climajet - it isn't cheap but it ticks all the other boxes.

The Montane Velolite normally gets goods recommendations (although never used one myself). If you go the waterproof route, you lose a certain amount of brathability unless you spend more money.
Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos

  • Hi
Montane H20 - packs very small and very light (about 115 gms).

I've got one and they're great. Better then the all ones 'reveiwed' in this months C+.

Quite expensive at £47 (off Fleabay) - but is more than a windproof.

    See http://www.montane.co.uk/productdetails ... d=81&rid=7

    Hope this helps !
  • The Montane Velo is just a windproof which will stop the odd shower.

The H20 is a waterproof and has a bit reduced breathability compared to the Montane Velo - I have both !

I would go Montane Velo - £25 from JE James at the mo.
    Felt F70 05 (Turbo)

    Scott CR1 SL 12
    Cannondale Synapse Adventure 15 & 16 Di2

Thanks all. I just ordered the Montane Velo; it seems to be pretty much what I want.
  • Altura race cape ticks all those boxes. As waterproof as your ever going to get before it becomes a sweatbox.

Also has reflective bits on the shoulders and the lower back.

You won't regret getting a Montane. I have the Featherlite Smock. It's not 100% waterproof but it is absolutely fine for anything I have encountered so far. I went for the smock as it's a bit smaller and I read suggestions that it might be more water resistant than something with a full-length zip. The Velo looks like it may have breathability advantages; also my smock is fairly loose fitting; the Velo may be a tighter fit.

100g, flourescent yellow, and packs up easily into a stuff-sac "the size of an eating apple" that fits into a jersey pocket. Absolutely fantastic thing.
