First Post :D Been lurking for a while now, after reading allot I've decided I need a hard tail bike.

It's going to be used for footpaths, fields, treks, country paths. Nothing 'extreme'. Which is why I rulled out full suspension, and hopefully get more hard tail for the money.

I started looking at Scott, Marin, Orange (look nice but loads of £) etc.

But, when I visit some LBS I really liked this:

I did a search for it on here, but Rocky Mountain kit doesn't appear to be discussed often?

Should I be looking elsewhere?

Thanks

RM have been around for years, popular over the water in North America but not many sold in the UKdue to not many shops stocking them. Well worth a look.

That's a very nice bike that you've posted. Good spec and some good reviews

Rocky Mountain bikes are pretty good, but there's better value for money out there. The bikes are built and hand-finished in Canada (the frames are all hand-painted) which tends to bump the price up.

Fine if you want something exclusive and you're prepared to pay for it but a similarly specced, mass-produced model (say a Giant, Trek, Specialized, Marin etc.), will retail for a lot less.

    You pays your money!

if I was paying that for a hardtail i'd want more XT then LX.. brakes corking though.

does you riding need that level of bike? havea look atthe focus bikes on wiggle while you're there..obviously usual cavets about buying online vs get a test ride.

I saw the Rocky Mountain Vertex 50 in one of my lbs this weekend and it looks sweet in the flesh, http://www.silverfish-uk.com/products/5 ... =3m1d0b1s0

Though the LX kit is dissappointing for the price. I don't know much about Rocky Mountain tbh.
  • Rocky Mountains have been over ordered this year and they are probably not going to keep up with demand at the factory. Silverfish have very few left. If you set your heart on one, well worth calling the shop to see if they have it in stock in your size, and if not, get them to call Silverfish (distributors) and see if they are able to get hold of one for you. Silverfish will check with other distributors in the EU to see if they can get one off them for you as well and they are always very helpful.

Just a quick note as well, if Silverfish can get you one from Rocky Mountain, it can generally take about four weeks to get across the pond.

Fantastic bikes though, and always look stunning!! The Vertex frame is amazing!!
