as i understand it you can only load garmin maps onto it, i.e. City Navigator

the memory map os maps, landrander or 25k will not load on there, which is a shame

I am confused too. I just got Euro Navigator NT but can't seem to unlock it! I am not sure if I need a memory card or what. Garmin's instructions are very unclear!

The Garmin devices are vector based graphics which are based on routeable data.

The memorymap maps are just OS Map pictures with location points for addresses
(you can't route the on memorymap can you?)

If you just want OS Map pictures - you can get the gps cycle master program free and then use Grab-A-Map to download the OS map pictures - not brilliant, but free!

The Navigator maps should be unlocked for viewing and then unlocked again for your device.

Ok, I managed it now. Thanks. It's quite easy to find Euro Navigator for free.

By the way, does anyone know how accurate the calories burned reading is on the 705. I did 110km (inc. 500m of climbing) at the weekend and it says I burned about 4500 Cals. Surely that's not possible?!!
  • The calorie function on Garmin's is well know to be inaccurate. It's usually too high. Apparently the excuse is that the algorithm to calculate calories is copyrighted. I'm not entirely sure that's true since other software seems to do it better (and if it is subject to copyright then I'd have thought Garmin could either reverse engineer it, or licence it).

Sadly, it's a useless function. According to it I burn 2,500 calories on my commute. Would that I were losing that much in weight terms!
