1.5 frames with 1.125 steerer pointless?

if you have a 1.5 frame do you really need to source a 1.5 steerer fork to see the advantages?
If you used a reducer headset on a standard steerer are you just adding unnecessary weight?
seems the 888 RC3 only comes in 1.125 why?
is it cos the triple clamp gives you all the stiffness you need, wheres single crown forks see a bigger advantage in the 1.5 steerer?

in my opinion it depends on how you do it.
If i had a 1.5 head tube i would get what ever fork suited/worked best."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

as above, I have a frame with a 1.5 headset, so I have a 1.5 fork for increased stiffness.
I know people will say "what if you want to change forks" - will get another 1.5 set
or
"What happens if you want to use those forks on another frame" - well if it was an extreme frame such as DH/FR etc I would make sure it had a 1.5 steerer
I wouldn't personally run a reducer..... but get a fork that fits the frame0 -
One advantage of using a reducer is that you can run less stack height. If you can get the fork you want in 1.5 then I'd go for it. But I wouldn't be put off a fork I wanted if it only came in 1.1250
