Hope xc hub bearings

I know the size and what model number i require, that is not a problem but i was reliably told that even though it states they use a 7mm wide bearing they can happily use an 8mm one.
Which would be ideal as i could step up to a ceramic one to get things spinning and lasting longer.
Can anyone confirm this?
Edit, actually has anyone ever changed these, is there some sort of tool the hubs require, iirc the rear is sprung loaded inside isn't it?

The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

i would of thought the hub would of been designed around 7mm bearing so 8mm may not fit.
looking at the techncial drawings there is a cir clips, this will have a grove in the hub body to fit into, which would indicate to me that 8mm bearings wont fit.
Its alot of work to undertake only to find they don't fit. I really think an email to hope is the best idea.
If they will fit don't forget to check the load rating of the ceramic bearings is the same as the originally specced bearings0 -
it is unlikely that using wider bearings would work unless you want to start removing metal from other parts to allow a wider bearing to be used..."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
