Does anyone have any idea whether these will be passable by bike with a bit of snow hiking at the start of May. Managed it last year though the roads were officially closed, but don't know what it's like out there at the monent. Has anyone any idea? Thanks
Dan

    I'm guessing no, the snow has been a lot worse this year by all accounts. Telegraphe maybe, but not he Izoard or the Galibier.

    All the cols are shown here on the French traffic and road conditions website:

    http://www.bison-fute.equipement.gouv.fr

    Click on access aux cols. Put tous into the department, massif and type boxes, and then click on rechercher.
    Ferme = closed
    Ouvert = open
    Equipements Spéciaux Obligatoires = snow chains essential
    The more you spend - the faster you go - the less you see.
  • Thanks. They were mostly ferme last year but with a bit of hiking near the top one could get over. I hoped there wasn't as much late snow this year.
