Hello All!!

I'm new onto the site after finding it at the weekend after buying Cycling Plus having decided to lose a few pounds and get back on my bike for the first time in years. I've been working upto to commuting the 8 miles to work over the last few weeks by slowly riding out on the route and increasing my distance gradually before undertaking the commute sometime soon :) .

Well, I got home and headed out having just eaten one of the kids' chewy orange sweets. I absolutely flew, I was way quicker than I'd been any previous time - I was grinning ear to ear........all that changed when I turned around to come back :( . The headwind I had cycled into every other time on my way out had turned and was now in my face. There was no magic ingredient in the orange sweet, nor had I become the bionic man - still I had increased my distance by another mile and am another day closer to starting my commute!! :D

Cheers!

Monkey

PS. After ordering a new bike from Ash Cycles on Sunday after reading about the service and value in a post here it arrived this morning and will be getting used this very evening!

Good stuff monkey, what bike did you order?

    Dan
    Felt F70 05 (Turbo)
Marin Palisades Trail 91 and 06
    Scott CR1 SL 12
    Cannondale Synapse Adventure 15 & 16 Di2
    Scott Foil 18
  • I ordered a Dawes Discovery 501 2007 - which took a whopping £150 off RRP! :D

I took it out last night and cycled the equivalent of my commute to work and all bar a couple of tweaks adjusting the seat height a tad and handlebars a smidge, I was very pleased!

I never realised just how much you see on a bike compared to being stuck in a car - I didn't even mind the rain!!

If you haven't already found it, the other "wonder boost" is fititing clipless pedals. For shorter stuff and round town the Shimano ones are ideal and there's a good range of shoes, from stiff to nice and comfy.
