To be honest for 800 i'd find a hardtail, or save up and get a 5" travel bike. from last year. 3.5 is a bit niether here nor there.0
-
It has mechanical discs, you would expect Hydraulic at that price really.
Maybe look for a 2007 Giant Trance 2 (see below) or go for a Hardtail as said above !

or would i be better buying it and fitting hyd disks to it? would that not give me a really good bike?0
-
i would follow Kmike's advice, look around a bit kona has some great previous years deals,
Good hydraulic discs would cost you a further £140 on average, (like avide juicy 5, or hayes 9)0 -

The brakes are the main let down in the spec so it would be a good first upgrade, the rest of the spec seems pretty good but if your not happy then cancel it.0 -

what about this http://www.evanscycles.com/product.jsp?style=709390

Spec is fine, but i have never ridden a cannondale Full sus frame just hardtails. i loved the hard tails but wouldnt wish to attempt to pass a comment on there sus bikes iwth out a real ride0
-
aarrrggghh i just dont know what to spend it on. far too many choices. what would you guys buy for £800 bearing in mind i'll cycle it most days to work yet at nights and wkends i want to through it about up the hills and mountains.0
-
Well it depensd if full sus i'd be looking at last years, but you really have to test ride them mate. only you know what feels good, i love my stumpy FSR to pieces and hated orange there are other people who will be exact opposite, see if you canget up to try one0
-
Christ I'm gullible, I actually believed after your epic search you'd found the perfect bike
For £800 and mainly riding on the road, its got to be a hardtail, toras, XT rear mech and hydraulic discs.
Good luck!!!0 -
lol batch. i though i had but i've seen so many nice good spec bikes for sale, och its driving me nuts!!!! :twisted:0

Or this for a hardtail.
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=14967The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

Felix - you know what to do!0 -

I would call the local Marin dealers in your area and see if they have any stock left.
You can get a list of marin dealers from Marin website0 -
I didn't buy a marin in the end but whilst looking I was told by two local bike shops that Marins seem very popular at the moment and several models have already totally sold out for the year.
I was looking at an East Peak and that was one that was almost impossible to get hold of.
I'm sure now though plenty of you will be able to track them down and prove me wrong!!!!0
