Numb feet

I have recently returned to the bike after 20+ years away and I have started to develop numb feet during my rides. It seems to happen after about 20 miles and then comes and goes during the ride.
I don't believe it's due to cold so it may be circulation??
Any advice would be appreciated.
Many thanks.

I'm guessing, but I agree with you...circulation is probably the answer...
1) If still riding with 1980"s toe-clips, you've more than likely tightened the strap too tight and are cutting off the blood flow....
2) If riding 'clipless' and (i.e.,) your shoes have 3 straps, the front two straps only need to be 'closed'; not tight....if tight, this cuts off the blood flow. Just use a relaxed fit for normal riding. and close the top strap tight enough to keep the foot from pulling out..if you're going into an 'all-out' sprint, additional 'clicks' may be required for the top strap.Cajun0 -
I had the same problem before Christmas until I realised that I was pulling the straps to tight on my shoes. Been fine ever since.

Yup, tight shoes would be my guess too....
failing that it could possibly be cleat angle on your shoes but tight shoes is most likely......0 -
Thanks for the advice guys.
I have a pair of Shimano SPD SL shoes and they have laces as well as a velcro strap. They have been feeling a bit tight recently so I will look at buying new shoes.
Any recommendations on shoes?
I have been told that the Specialized BG S-works shoes are good but they sound expensive.
Once again thanks for the advice.
Best regards,
