Chapeau France 2

Watched on satellite from 12:30 UK time until the end.

First time I've seen cycle racing in 16:9 widescreen, really gave a nice perspective on the course and riders

Lots of motorcycle cameras covering the leaders, chasing groups and peloton.

Also some mobile commentators on the course on motorbikes, including Laurent Fignon - he doesn't half talk funny going over the pave!

Overall great coverage and all free to air from a national broadcaster, shame nothing like it in English

This was digital from satellite at 5W on the France TV multiplex (11591V, 20000SR)

    See http://www.lyngsat.com/ab3.html

The sky digibox is really only any good for Sky. Technically it is possible to point a sky minidish at this sat but there is no way to enter the 20000 kbs symbol rate in a digi box.

The standard French channels are also free and in analog on this sat for the moment, but not in 16:9.

Maplin does a cheap digital kit for £70 (http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?Mod ... 7&DOY=14m4) that would do

I'm hoping their TdF coverage is as good as Paris-Roubaix
  • I too watched France 2 with a £60 satellite kit from Lidl. Picture was excellent.

I was wondering what other races France 2 cover, apart from the TDF of course.
