As above I've spent over an hour using the search button before posting this as I was sure it would have been asked before, anyway here goes;
Sram Rival or Shimano Ulterga groupset? pro's and con's etc much appreciated, however before anyone says Campag been there and didn't like it, great kit but not for me.

The best place I can think of for this sort of discussion is Weight Weenies.

They tend to focus more on the top end stuff, so Red or Force, but you'll get lot of opinion on the functionality of the SRAM kit.0 -
Sram Rival.
I did a bit of investigating into this because I wanted to know what to equip my own bike brand with. Sram has amazing flexibility, the levers are more comfortable and the double tap system is easy and fast.
You can of course mix and match the two. I can offer more information if you like as the Sram Rep has left me lots of literature.
I'll be stocking them from next week but I also stock Shimano so my opinion isn't based on making a sale.0 -
I've just been looking for a new bike, my first time using shifters in the brake levers (I'm slow to catch on), so I tried all 3: Campag, Shimano and SRAM.
I so wanted to like the Campag, I've been a fan all my life (super record gear on my old TT bike), but found the shift action just lacked positivity.
Shimano worked well but those blobby levers just look all wrong, especially with the cables sticking out of the inside.
SRAM seem to have taken the best bits from the other two systems and impressed me enough to choose them in the end.
The only thing that worries me is getting tools to carry out maintenance or taking the bike for a service. No idea if they use the same or yet another fitting. I can see a third set of tools joining my toolbox...0
