Hello,

Im looking for Shimano road shoes however i don't know exactly what shoe size i need. I'm a UK 9-10 (9 for normal shooes 10 for trainers). According to the UK to EU chart i should be a size 43-44 (size 9), however a lot of sites say that its better to get one size up for shimano shoes (because theyre small or diff. in some way) so therefore ill be a size 44-45. I've checked my LBS and they dont stock shimano road shoes(mainly specialized, lake etc.) :( and ive found a good deal on the net for these shimano's.
Im wondering if anyone has shimano road shoes and feels that shimano really do need a size up (and their experiences).

Thanks loads :D

I just bought a pair of Shimano M075 shoes. I am size 8 shoe and trainer and needed size 43. Not sure this helps but I guess 43 would not fit you.

I wear size 11 boots and size 46 MT51s, if that helps you any... My feet are wide rather than long so that's really only telling you about the width comparison!

yeh tregolwyn ur a size 8UK so you should be a size 42 European. which means the size bigger shimano fits you (like some websites are saying)

According to the label in my boots they're Euro size 45, so it looks like there may be something in it.

I don't own any Shimano shoes but did try some on in my LBS when I bought some shoes and they were on the small side for the size. I am a size eight and a size nine shoe was a tight fit.

I normally wear a size 45 Sidi shoe, but took the plunge to buy some reduced size 45 Shimano shoes online. I found them really tight on the toes. I wore them for about 10 hours of riding, but could never get comfortable. So I would definitely recommend trying them on before buying.

BTW - how are those shoes ive found them for 39 quid on chain reaction cycles, im looking for shoes around that price range (20-39 quid).

P.S.S. What cycling pedal would you think would go best SPD-SL or LOOK ???

Just picked up some Shimano shoes I ordered today form my LBS. My feet sound the same size as yours and I have gone for a 45. Just right in summer socks but for a winter sock they could be a bit tight in the toe box.

I take size 10 and a have a pair of mt31's in 46 which fit well.
  • size varies enormously with shimano shoes IME - ive got two pairs in size 45: m075 which are too small and R125s which fit fine... my advice buy big and use insoles to get the fit right

cool im UK 10 for trainers however UK 9 for formal shoes. Which ones do you think i should match with, UK 10 with trainers? Or are shimano cycling shoes got less padding like normal non trainer shoes so ill need a smaller shoe size to fit?

I strongly recommend you try them on. Following on from my post earlier in the thread I have now taken my size 45 Shimano back to the LBS for a full refund. The toe box was just too tight in my opinion. They were exactly the same length as my old specialized shoes but these have a much roomier toe box. I don't think I will be looking for Shimano shoes again.

I take a size 7-8 shoe but my Shimano road shoes are a size 9. Remember your feet swell when they warm up.

faaj I take a size 9 / 43 shoe but trainers are more often a 44. I tried a size 45 Shimano but the toe box was too tight. My old shoes are 44 Specialized but I think the sizing has gone a bit smaller on specialized as I tried on a 44 recently and they were too tight. Trying them on with your cycling socks is the only way.
