He'll be back in no time. Broken ribs don't hamper cyclists much.

Yeahbut. The Ardennes week is always Bettini's first focus of the year - those 3 races are built for him. Shame.

    Cheers, Andy

Agreed but who says he'll miss them? He's got two weeks to Liege so may be fit.

maybe this downtime for him will help him get motivated and get himself back into shape.

Cracked ribs in no laughing matter -literally - it can hurt like hell for 6 weeks, so doubt he'll be ready for L-B-L.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
  • Well he's missing Amstel & Fleche, which isn't really a surprise.

But instead he's riding the Giro del Trentino (Tues 22 - Fri 25) to prepare himself for Liege!

Sounds like he'll be using Trentino for training, as he can't carry out intense training till this Friday.

I cracked my ribs snowboarding earlier this year. I couldn't do any exercise for six weeks - not even cycling to the shops. I doubt he'll up to much at LBL.

I'd be surprised if he's ready for LBL.

Shame, might make him change his mind and stay on for another year though.
