I am trying to attach a magnet to the spokes of my Fulcrum Racing Zeros (as I am in the midst of installing my whizzy new Garmin Edge 705) and the bloody thing won't fit the flat wide spokes on my snazzy wheels!!!

Is this God's revenge for me spending too much pimping my ride?

Anyone know of a solution?

pleeeeease....

Presumably something like this would help? Wiggle do this one which looks exactly the same to me but doesn't say it's for flat spokes.

Pretty much any magnet should do, if you can find a way to attach it.

The link that Shadowduck posted for the magnet at Wiggle DOES say that it's for flat spokes up to 5.3mm wide

    £7 for a magnet.

Or £8.96 for a complete (wired) computer including the very same magnet:

    Funny old world..

Its a very good magnet by the way. Very powerful and easy to fit to all types of spokes. Aero too.

C'mon, the guy's got Fulcrum Racing Zeros that cost nearly as much as my entire bike! I wasn't going to start shopping around for the best price...

    he he, thanks guys.

Just goes to show how the universe is set up - the more you spend on stuff, the more you have to spend on other stuff...

Mega - just wondering why the garmin uses a magnet? My garmin doesn't :? but then I have the bog standard 305 so perhaps that's the difference.

I've just washed my bike and the paint has gone dull. I'm not happy - an ache in the pit of my stomach. Going to start searching for threads on making paint sparkle again

ah, is it a cadence sensor?

    Hi Popette

It's a joint cadence and speed sensor. The Edge normally works out speed by the satellites, but this is apparently a back up system in case it loses the signal briefly. So not essential.

I have just taken my 705 out to play for the first time. What fun! Of course, I did nearly crash into a gulley by the side of the road as I was too busy watching watching it draw my ascent profile!

    Gonna have to watch that.
  • The magnet from my Cateye comp fits the flat spokes fine (if that helps??)
