Right, after my bike being nicked a month ago I've invested in a level 10 Gold Secure U-Lock. It's this one:

I also have a kryptonite cable thing for extra protection, when together they look something like this:

However, I can't fit the lock onto my seat post or in the frame so it has to be my handlebars... Which naturally is a problem.
No matter how hard I try and what cables I stick them through I simply cannot succesfully mount my lock without it affecting my steering.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can mount it?
I want to be able to make something that will hold the lock, securely, away from my cables

Thanks in advance

how about a seat post mounted rack? the kind that double up as a rear mudguard as well
was thinking about getting one but i have also found a U lock that clamps on the back so it can be used as a rack too
still unsure what way to go yet

The only way to reduce the affect on your steering would be to fabricate a holder to position the lock as close and central to the centre of the steer tube.

Another option could be to just take a small bag (with back padding) and take it in that like i do. Positioning it on your back will not really raise the centre of gravity and it will also bring the extra weight back over the bb.
