Hi there - does anybody have any ideas for a road ride/Sunday club run within driving/riding distance of Centre Parcs at Penrith?

All suggestions gratefully received :-)

Go out the back of Centre parks and head off around Moreland, Appleby and that area of the Eden valley. Nice quiet roads.

We spent Christmas at Patterdale YH for several years and one of our regular rides was from Ullswater up north through Greystoke, Hutton Roof and then back via Mungrisedale. We crossed the A66 somewhere near Guardhouse and then onto a quiet road parallel to the A66 to Troutbeck and back to Ullswater through Matterdale End.

You could base the ride on Pooley Bridge or ride from Penrith itself. Those roads were always very quiet in late December but I've only ever visited the Lakes in Winter so I've no idea how busy it is in the Summer. It's fairly hilly in places but not really severe considering how hard it can be round there.

have you been to centre parcs before?

i go there a lot - but i wouldn't want to leave the park itself - it's lovely up there and they kids adore it.

i;m sure there are some nice rides, penrith is on the C2C route I did last year and not far from the hardest climb on the C2C - hartside.summit.
