i have a giant STP frame with quick realease drop outs. would i be able to run a 2007 mavic deetrax rear wheel?

if not which rims do mavic do that are about 600g and really strong, light freeride kind of thing? obviously i don't mind going lighter, as long as it doesn't compromise strength

if possible i want my next rims to be mavic as my LBS (where i work) supply them

    unfortunatly not :(

i was looking to put them on my gaint reign, but cant remeber exactly what the spacing was but it wasnt for standard qr dropouts. i fitted sun singletrack wheels instead.

    Mavix EX 721s instead?

I'd go for 721 on pro II or xt, excellent strength and low weight.

    And get them from merlin[/list]

i'll have a look at 721's and i know merlin are good wheel builders but i've got a friend who'll build them for me for free and i've never seen a wheel he's built perform any less than superbly

Mavic Deetraks come with a 135 x 10mm axle. So unless your STP has 150 dropout spacing (sorry i dont knwo if it has or ntot) they will fit

what the 10mm bolted axle will work?

i was in two minds coz it looks like it would but its talked about like a whole other axle standerd

sory for the somewhat late reply. yes the bolted axle will work fine.

I think the confusion is similar to the when the saint bolted 10mm setups came out, people imagine you require special dropotus, when the work with conventional dropouts

If you work in a shop that's a Mavic dealer, surely they'd have all the relevant tech docs to be able to tell you that it would fit.
Or access to the website, or they could ring Chicken & sons, or Garry at Mavic.
For reference though, Deetraks is a Deemax hub in black, with a 729 rim.
The Deemax 135mm QR rear conversion kit could be fitted to the hub too.
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
