im pritty sure of the answer to this but i just want to make sure, if im buying a 28.6mm seatpost then should the seat clamp size also be 28.6mm or is it ment to be a little bigger?

Bigger.My seatpost is 30.9,but my clamp is 34.9.

What bike? Probably a 31.8mm.

measure it, all you need is a ruler.

measure the diameter from outside to the opposite outside of the seat tube and there ya go.
