crashing a carbon framed bike ?

lbs told me if i have an off on a carbon framed bike , and ding it , then the only option is to throw it in the skip ? where as an aliminum or steel frame can be fixed . are they right ?

    If the carbon fibre has cracked, it's a bin job.

    If it hasn't cracked the bike will (probably) be fine to continue using.

    You'll know when it's cracked as it'll probably be in two pieces.

  • steel frames can have individual tubes removed and replaced if badly dented. Though this is obviously quite costly.

    Providing it's not too big a dent both aluminium and steel frames will still be perfectly rideable.

    Carbon - take your chances. Can you afford to replace the frame if you crash?
    Cycling - The pastime of spending large sums of money you don't really have on something you don't really need.

    Thats why I insured all my bikes !!! :D
    Not that I intend to crash, but the riders these days seem a lot worse than first time round 8)
