OK Ive had the bike for nearly a year use it day in day out for commuting, was giving it a clean today when I noticed this "dent" in the tube:-

tubedamage.jpg

Im not sure if its supposed to be there although I couldnt see why, and with the number of times Ive cleaned the bike and adjusted the gears etc Im amazed Ive never spotted it before unless it just didnt concern me before...

But I cant see how this would have happened if its not meant to be like that, its well tucked away protected by the deraileur, and the gear cable and theres no signs at all of impact damage in the dent area eg no scratchs no flaked paint etc...

Is this how the frames made or as something gone wrong here? and if somethings gone wrong is this a manufacturing defect Im likely to be able to calim for a new fram under the warranty for

Oh and is the bike safe to ride?

It's meant to be there. If you hit the tube hard enough to deform it like that you would have lost some paint from it.

Just had a look at my SCR1, I have the same dent too.

Looks like it is to allow extra room for the front derailleur to move in, perhaps if you have a triple instead of a double?

thanks for that guys, had me worried there  Now why havent I spotted it or worried about it before :D

Ive got a triple but it does seem to "need" the space but as long as its meant to be there its fine :D
