The FSA one on my 06 Cayo Expert needs changing. It appears to be slight;y bent as the chainwheels are clearly moving from side to side when rotating them through the front mech. The chain is also starting to jump off the big ring to the small one under hard effort ina low gear. Anway, its French so I don't like it.. and its the wrong colour, so am considering getting a new one. Immediate choice is the Ultegra compact, but are there others worth considering at a similar price point? I dont want to fit a standard 53/39 as that would mean changing all the rear cassettes that I have since its going to be sued for mainly sportives in the future.

Gives you a choice of 50/34, 50/36 and 48/34 (only 170mm cranks though)0 -
Sure, you need a Stronglight so that you can get over your prejudices The cool thing about Stronglight cranks is that their chainrings are excellent. The Impact is good value. If you wanted to spend more, you could get the ZLight.
Another option would be to replace the chainrings on your FSA (which is from Taiwan). Otherwise, you have Shimano and Campagnolo as being good options. You can run either makes chainsets with each others drivetrains.0 -
What are the Truvativ ones like?0

Can anyone post a link up to the Ultegra compact chainset? And are there any plans for a Dura-Ace compact? If so I will get one asap 8)

If you are happy with the length you have now, get that length.0 -

Plenty of other choice. I'd get a TA and save myself some money. their rings are excellent. The Shimano will be available from Parker or ribbleM.Rushton0 -
Isn't FSA a US originating company ?
French bike stuff, esp Stronglight is excellently engineered and well thought out kit. I've been running SL roller bearing headsets for years.0 -
The R700 is the usually quoted Ultegra level crankset and can be ordered in 170, 172.5 and 175mm crank lengths while the 105 level R600 is available in 170 and 175mm only. There is also an Ultegra-SL version but I'm unsure of the part ref or crank lengths. As I have the 172.5mm version I suspect that it will be available in the same three lengths as the R7000

It should say on them, normally on the back of the cranks.0 -

I have the R700 with 175mm cranks. No complaints whatsoever.0
