hello.
i am having issues adjusting my rear deor mech.
i recently bought new cables and a chain to help with shifting problems but it hasnt changed.
the rear xt casset is fairly new so shouldent have warn too much anlthough the front rings are worn and need replacing once i have money.
the calbes have had plently of time to strech too.
i have followed the parktools guide to Rear Derailleur Adjustment and it seems to work fine when shifting up the gears i.e 9 >1 but when coming back down it doesnt always change per click and can leave the chain balencing on the edge.
has any one any ideas what this is? i have just relubed cables with a teflon lube.
any help would be much appreciated.

if it is not moving under the springs force correctly then it is either too much tension in the cable. or the top stop has not been set correctly. (i would also say mucky cables but you say they are new....).

yer cables are about a month or 2 old and just regreased.
i will try reduycing cable tension and see if it will still go up as well as down
