Hi all

I'm due to due a 39 mile hilly TT in a couple of weeks and just wondered what people's fuelling strategies were for events of this type. I recently did a hilly course of 29 miles and i can't help but feel that i'm gonna struggle on this longer (and hillier!) course if i don't eat something along the way. I really did feel quite faint when i crossed the line! I did manage to snatch a few drinks on the descents of the earlier race but i couldn't imagine trying to get food down me whilst working hard! Any thoughts?

Cheers
Rich

I wouldn't try and eat solids on a race of that length - they probably wouldn't stay down long if I'm riding at pace - probably just a bottle of water with carbs in and a gel stuck up the leg of my shorts or taped to my bars for the last 15 miles or so. Do your carb loading the day / mornging before would be my advice.
