looking for a bit of advice here, ive got a 07 spesh hardrock pro. i was wondering if i could change the fork from 100mm to something like 140/150 for a bit more spirited gravity based riding, a new bike is out of the question just now as the lad will need a new one shortly, so i thought of changing the fork for a bit more travel and i know it will slacken the head angle a bit, not too sure how much though, anyone else done anything like this?

it would ruin the handling and would invalidate your frame warranty. Bear in mind an XC bike isn't designed to be doing the things a 150mm fork is designed to do, so don't be surprised when bits of your bike go in different directions when landing...

Wouldn't risk going that far myself, maybe 130mm on a u-turn max.

Can't you get the lad working for his own bike!! :D

tried that but they abolished slavery years ago :lol::lol:

as for the fork i might look into it a bit more as the fork thats on it just now seems to get really soft after about 15 mins riding...

  • I run mine with 130mm forks. I just use a bit more sag so will be more like 110-120 when riding. It seems to handle great to me and can keep up with my mates fine :)
If you do get longer ones I would go for something with ETA, U-turn etc to make the uphills better
  • I have my hardrock with 130mm max- U-Turn :D
Me like trials biking me do
