I thought I might get up extra early tomorrow and cycle out to Gullane! (I'm doing some temporary work there) I'm working out the distance from the map using a bit of string - it sems to be about 15 miles. If I give myself an hour and a half, should that be enough? I am starting at (roughly) the Omni cinema, and going off down London Road to portobello, then going along the coast road.

Things I am relying on:
The wind SHOULD be behind me... shouldn't it?
Am going to be leaving at 6.30 am! so roads should be quiet...

It all seems simple enough... or am I being mental?

    Nice ride though.

Well, it was pretty nice, apart from the less nice bits like Prestonpans and Cockenzie! A bit cold and damp, but I prefer it that way, so I don't sweat so much. Left a bit late, due to doing my manly duty 8) but was more-or-less on time! Saw a fair few other commuters and said hello - I guess it's only the most dedicated commuters who are out at 7am to get to work!

Met a nice man in Aberlady who thought my bike was lovely, and saw the usual sort of wildife . Oh, and it's been a while since I've done a long ride, so forgot to stop to eat snacks until I had a minor 'bonk' (I think). Felt much better and faster so guess that was it.

    Go me!

(legs slightly wobbly so may have a beer v soon :) )
