I had the idea for the outline for a while and basically let Xed work his magic, the pattern is the flower of life (lots and lots of circles) he suggested that

yes you're right it hurt a fair bit... the ankle and foot was pretty damned painful.. beer helped

What do you mean by the circles...the ones formed by the petals or are there smaller details you can't see in the pic? Looks great though...where did you get it done?

this might help with the circle/flower thing

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flower_of_life lots of overlapping circles make the 'flower'

Into you http://www.into-you.co.uk Xed is the guy who did that, he did one of my arms too. Very good artist

Chrisnoir I've got a full back piece and two 1/2 sleeves and a traditionally done (stick and bones) maori piece on my thigh... it's just a place I hadn't got to yet

Shazz I really don't like my leg shaved, it confuses and scares me, but at least I've tried it I guess

It's a picture of David Clinger - he was racing for a small US team called Webcor when he first got this whole face maori tattoo done. He was given the ultimatum to lose it or his job. I thought I'd read that he'd undergone laser surgery to have it removed, but not by the looks of it.

He now rides for Rock Racing where ink is the order of the day - even their podium girls have them.

I think the original was more ornate and he got half of it removed.

ah I get the earlier link now... heh heh, why only get some of it removed? it's still a face tattoo

A real proper traditional tattoo maori style invloved carving into the skin as well... all very interesting and freaking scary

I got a traditional one done... hurt like hell

I know when I put cards in my spokes I go faster.

Maybe even faster if you had a carbon weave pattern included.

These thing s are only good for hiding the needle marks - the rest is up to your ego.

you've got an opinion, I can certainly say it wasn't cheap in any sense of the word, unless you compare it to say... a car. I think there was 7 hours work to do that... £80ph..

But if I really took to heart what everyone thought i'd have never got any done, my tattoos are for me if you see what I mean

I'm going to have the summer off getting inked and then maybe do the other shin or the back of the calf or my other thigh.. or my chest

    oh dear

I remember when I got my leg tattoo (three Chinese symbols - but this was, like, waaay before everyone else was doing it, ahem...) the bloke in there told me that when he had his first one done he just knew he'd be back for more so defined himself certain boundaries, nothing below the elbows for example or on the neck. He then dolefully admitted that this idea soon got binned and the only parts that weren't inked were his hands and face...

    Oddly addictive!
