squeeky spd's

Hi,
I use a set of deore (lx i think) spd's with northwave mountainbike shoes and the combo squeek like crazy when i ride. I have seen on other sites that people reccommend oil, wax and other lubes' to stop this, but surely this isn't a good idea as it makes the entry exit and basic use slippy and causes more foot side to side movement in pedaling.
I have tried to move the cleat and tighten the pedal spring way up but it doesn't help.
so... i am going to change, i might get the new look spd's which are due out on the 11th or has anyone got the squeeeking from any other pedals like time, crank bros etc. i am looking for pedals without the squeek as an added extra...
the noise drives me mad.
thanks

check the pedals and the cranks are tight and then lube all the pivoting parts of the clipping mechanism."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

If you’re sure it’s the cleat making the squeak on the pedal mechanism, spray the pedal with any lube or GT85. There is a few moving parts in a spd pedal so after cleaning the bike give them a good soaking with GT85 to drive any water out.
It will not make any difference to how hard they grab the cleat if you have them dry or lubed.0 -
You could try putting a johnny round the cleat then bolting it to your shoe...

Might be the cleat on the pedal, as mentioned above GT85 or similar.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0

tried the oil option and i gotta say.....watch out for your ankles.
yep the pedal tightness holds your foot in but as i though the swivel increases 20 fold so out of the saddle quick/sprint riding moves heels and ankels way too close to the crankset in a natural foot rotation.
so back to the drawing board in search for non squeeking pedals..saw the new look ones yesterday, very light- made of plastic, but wider than shimano spd's so i think they may squeek.
ps is no an mechanical squeek it a contact squeek between tthe pedal and shoe.0
