After a horrid day of commuting yesterday (see - I should have stayed in bed) I was back on the bike and lucky not to be in a car!

There was a 9 car pile up on the M61 near me this morning resulting in the closure of the motorway. This of course caused complete gridlock with nobody going anywhere apart from the cyclists that is. I did smile until I realised that people had been hurt.

All those motorists laughing at me yesterday. It's funny how things happen isn't it?
It's all good.

    Karma?

I'm wondering what I did to deserve my ride in this morning, shoulda stayed in bed!!!

Set off this morning, two minutes into the ride and the clip on the waistband of my trusty bumbag gave up the ghost. Cursed. Picked it up and carried it home. Bundled it into a rucksack and set off again.

Halfway to work the light that I have clipped onto my saddle pack with a belt clip fell off.

Lots of nice motorists actually avoided it as I picked it up and reassembled it whilst wondering why it had fallen off after months of trusty service. Put it back on and set off again.

10 Minutes later the darned thing fell off again. Stopped to repeat the procedure. Cars again driving around it. Then a lovely lovely bus driver spots my predicament.
What did he do? I hear you ask.

The caring chap swerved to the middle of the road, lined up and drove over both parts of my errant tail light. Yes it was deliberate, he was looking me in the eye and laughing as he drove past.

Jumped back on my bike and caught him, but managed to control my rage and not put a healthy dent in his wing.

(incidentally the reason for the light jumping off was that the saddlepack wasn't on as tightly as normal after I cleaned the bike t'other night, lesson learnt!)

As for the bumbag, I should be able to resurrect it with a replacement clippy thing.

Must've been killing puppys in my sleep to get karma like that.

Well I had a lovely ride in this morning. Sun shining, not a cloud in the sky, birds singing... you get the picture. :D

I think it was only the birds singing etc earlier in the ride that made me stay my hand. I'm still in a good mood despite it all, such a lovely day.

Meanwhile that bus driver is probably stuck in a jam, desperate for a cigarette that he can't have, coughing his lungs up and swearing at anything that moves in front of him.

    <end smug mode>

Knowing my luck the helmet cam would've made a bid for freedom as well!

    you got his number plate?

I'm sure calling it in might give him a slap on the wrists, but they will all laugh at it at the same time

Sadly I didn't, I was too busy doing a two minute mile to catch him up.

By the time I got to work I could remember that the numberplate had some err, numbers and perhaps some letters on it. D'Oh!

Not sure he actually committed a crime, other than obnoxiousness anyway.

Still the sun's out and I've still got two rear lights (paranioa pays!)

I had a taxi driver take pleasure in crunching over my rear light as it fell off going over Lambeth bridge once. I had been meaning to replace it with a better one anyway, so that gave me the perfect excuse!

Use cable ties and your lights will never come off.
    It's all good.
