I seem to remember a statistic which states how often you get wet cycling every day for a year both to and from work.
Anyone help?
Cheers

  • The statistic is along the lines of:

If you commute by bike in London at exactly the same time each day you will only get soaked 12 (or is it 10) times a year. Can't remember times or distances involved.

Empirical research suggests if you cycle 1hr/day in Glasgow you will get wetter, more often, than if you cycle 1hr/day in London.

    A lot wetter,

and a lot, lot more often.

    Remember, it's only a statistic.

May 2004 was, at the time anyway, the wettest May in Glasgow on record. At the time I was commuting 6 days a week and putting in a lot of extra miles at the weekend as training for the Tour du Canada - I didn't get wet once. Strange, but true!
