Ok then. I'm in the market for a pair of hydraulic disc brakes. I have a Scott Reflex FX35, so for xc use mostly. My initial thought was the Hope mini's as i used to have hope in the past. I am open to suggestions as i realise there is a lot of choice out there.

I'm fairly flexible on price. I learnt in the past not to buy cheap. So any suggestions are appreciated, i can always do a bit of research on them.

Look at the Formula range, all great brakes, and choose whichever one you think is most suited to your needs/pocket! Even the base K18 model is a very good brake.

So judging from the response Hope have some stiff competition. I've just been looking at the formula range. Are they easy to fit and set up? I always like to build bikes myself, part of the fun i think.

Ok guys i'm struggling to find the difference between the k18 and k24. The formula website doesn't explain it very well.

I think the difference is the bite point adjustment on the K24?

I have Formula K18 180mm front, 160mm rear and they are awesome, they look smart, well modulated and seem very good VFM although they came standard on my Cube.

Read the review on here, it kind of makes it clear. Then buy the one.

I personally love my mini's with 180/160mm however i think i could use moto's with the same rotors. For much more power.

They look awesome! I found I can get a pair of k24's for £180. Think i may settle for these.
  • I got some K24's from velosave (on ebay) for £170 the other week and there superb so far. Very easy to put on your self. Imo the bite point adjuster you get on the 24's is worth the extra over the 18's
    Oh and the looks :P
