New rear shock advice

I'm in a position to replace my rear shock, currently a coil one on a Banshee X, as it is showing signs of wear (when I pick up the bike by the seat there is a couple of cm movement from the shock before the bike moves upwards).

Can anyone advise which ones I should be considering?

Mostly ride trail centres
Currently 6 inches travel (150mm)
Would like something that with lock-out/pro pedal
£200-£300 likely budget.

Thanks for any help.

Take a look at the Fox RP 23 i rate this shock big time.

Three level change on the pro-pedal
    Position 1 All Mountain
    Position 2 Trail riding
Position 3 Race/ close to hardtail but with some movement.
And the fully open mode for those rough downs

Easy to adjust and always gets top marks at the moment
got to be the best rear air shock going.

No idea what bike you have but mine' s on a 5 AM

Best take a test bike out with the shocks your intrested in and
    buy the one you like.

Thanks for that. Are there any sites that compare/review rear shocks?

There aren't many reviews on this site and likes of Wiggle don't seem to stock them. Is this a component that should come straight from the manufacturer?

why not just get the bushes sorted on your shock.

Contact TFtunned or Mojo to find out what shocks would fit your frame and what fitting hardware is available to allow which shock to be used.

No good buying a shock if you can not fit it.

Steve_F I know that they reviewed Trail bikes in last months MBR magazine and
there were three bikes in the test with these on.

I dont know if Orange has a custom Fox RP23 tuned just for them
but they do sell the FOX RP23 if that makes scence.

What bike frame do you have ?

But like i said take a bike out with it on and give it a go.

    I've got a Carerra Banshee X.

Good frame but some of the parts need upgrading, which I knew when I bought it, and the rear shock is one of them. X-fusion coil spring at the moment which I had intended upgrading at some point anyway.

I'll see if I can get a ride on anything with the RP23, sounds really good.

    It's a pretty heavy frame isn't it?

Steve_F you'll find this shock on most good trail bikes
and now being put on some 6inch bikes.

You really notice the three different presets in the pro setting

Very flexible shock but does everything very well indeed
I'l go far as to say this rear shock is the must have at
    the moment.

E-mail tftuned, tell him what you ride and how you ride it, then get a PUSH'ed RP32, it'll ride much better even than a 32 as it'll be custom tuned for your riding.

Yeah it is a pretty heavy frame.

I'll email tonight for more info, getting it ordered in through Halfords as I have money left over from C2W voucher so hopefully I'll still be able to still get it custom tuned now that I know what to go for.

    Thanks for all the info.
