Cleaning the bike yesterday(Giant SCR 3, 5 MONTHS OLD) and spotted a small area of the laquer(think thats what it is called) that covers the paint work is peeling away on the underside of the down tube.
No obvious signs of any major dents or scratches and I really look after the bike well.
I have taken it back to supplier who is going to speak with Giant to see what can be done.
Wife reckons I was being fussy and could have just put a frame protector on it or similar but I think it will only get worse and if frames are gaurenteed then this should be covered.
Any Thoughts??

I agree that chips and scratches cannot be avoided but it is all peeling away rather than just stoping at that. I have plenty of stonechips etc on my mountain bike and they do not spread in this way.

All sorted, Giant agreed that it was wrong and have replaced the frame :D
Just shows that it is always worth taking things back if you are not happy.

Glad to hear your complaint was dealt with amicably. I'm impressed by how quick Giant agreed too.

Giant warrenty very impressive, the lbs said there were no scr 3 frames available for a few weeks so they sent a complete bike for the shop to swap the components out off not any arguement about the fault top marks from me

I never did think you were being fussy, checked my frame, 4 years of all weather abuse (never owned 'guards) and no peeling whatsoever, glad you got it sorted.

very good service that - impressive!

    glad you got it sorted.
  • Giant are ace. I had a TCR frame warrentied in a few days when I identified a creak in the frame. Once I demonstrated a slight creak by flexing it, they replaced it with the full fitting kit including intergrated headset, even though I kept the old one. Very good company.
