Does anyone think that 29ers will eventually take over from the traditional 26" and become the new standard? Or will they just be a fad of the noughties and fade away?
I am not sure myself at the moment.

I think they'll have a part of the market as simply another option for riders. They will never take over, nor fade out really. 20 inch BMX, 24 inch DJ bikes, 26 and 29 MTBS - just another option that some may prefer.0

ss has it, just another option, standards for mtb rarely disappear so it'll just be another standard...0

I can't see them ever becoming the "de-facto" standard, it's too hard to make sensible frames of around 15" with 29" wheels! especially when you throw some long travel suspension into the mix.0
