Just a quick question. I'm looking at getting the Carradice Pendle saddlebag for my commute. Does anyone know if it uses the SQR system or straps to attach to the bike because the photo and description doesn't make it clear. Also, if it uses the SQR system, do I need to buy this seperately?

Thanks

Off the top of my head it comes with straps, and you buy the QR bit seperately (it may be expensive). BentMikey seems to know all about this sort of thing!

You also get a tokens for money off a pipe... maybe! ;-)

I'm not sure whether it would fit an SQR system, but I would guess so. Best to email Carradice themselves? I recally getting very quick customer service from them when I had a question. The SQR bracket and mount has to be bought separately.

Yes it does fit the SQR and I use my Longflap like this. It works better than strapping the bag to the saddle loops and the seatpost as it puts the opening of the bag into a much more horizontal position.

I have the Carradice Slim on my road bike for my commute. Uses the SQR system. Built like it will outlast me, waterproof and generally excellent. I have a clip on my MTB so I can use the bag on both easily.

The reason I went for the Slim is that it takes A4, which may or may not be important for you.

Thanks. I've emailed Carradice to find out what they recommend. It looks like a great bag, and just the right size for the stuff I carry. (Also being waterproof, I won't have the problem of arriving at work with wet clothes again!)

Just one more thing. Because I wanted to use an SQR bag I didn't go for the carbon seat post usually fitted to my bike (Condor Acciaio). Opinions seem to vary about this, but I just felt metal was better to take the strain.

Thinking of getting one of these myself and as far as I know all Carradice saddlebags fit on the SQR system (which costs around £25 extra). Cheapest place I've found these bags online is http://www.sjscycles.co.uk. The Pendle is £33.25. Also worth looking on ebay.
Anyone know any stores in London that stock Carradice bags?
