Lane Selection

Today i almost had one near miss and another driver who put me under pressure for NO reason.

The 1st was when i was going southbound around Staples Corner. I used hand signals to indicate that i was turning left to go up the slip road to Cricklewood but instead of the approaching driver from Brent Cross slowing down so he he could overtake me they tried to UNDERTAKE me  In the end they pulled back just before he would have hit my back wheel. I was ready for them the beep and shout abuse but they just passed without incident. Now i could maybe have got over to the left side much quicker but that would have meant darting across his lane when i think it is safer to filter into a lane.

The second incident was around Hyde Park Corner. I has come up from Kensington and wanted to go around it to head down Constitution Hill. I therefore selected the Left hand lane for Victoria as this would safely take me around (in primary position) with NO cars on my inside and then i can peel off onto Constitution Hill. However some idiot drives right up my ass a*se and i am just waiting for him to try and undertake me. In the end he just shoots up Piccadilly.

Why the hell can't drivers select the correct lane and stop putting the fear of god into us cyclists??? It's stressful enough concentrating on the road in front of you without having to worry about whether someone behind you is going to hit you from behind.

Also we cannot accelerate as quickly as you some give us more time space when filtering onto/off slip roads.
