this one is going to be an old fashioned winter trainer. the bob jackson remains bike number one, the peugeot i'm not sure about right now, and the carlton is a polo bike/beater.

it looks like early 60s, friend i got it from said it as a 'stokes of coventry'. anyone know anything about them?

what i do know is that it has lovely nervex lugs and it's light as a feather.

    nice

would be better if it was made out of aluminium

perhaps with a sloping top tube

thats what he is really after...

i wish he'd stop messing about with these old steel things and just get down to evans for a langster.

    it's sweet.

research says "George Stokes and Co of Coventry", it's a path frame.

531, but slim seatpost - maybe like the viking in the other thread.

going to build it soon, then sell all my bicycles and buy instead one of each of the city edition langsters.

PJ I think you possibly have an A.S.Gillot looking at the lugs and details. If you do have a Gillot, good result. Wonder how the ali and carbon of todays bikes will be in 50 years, I'm curious how it will hold up.

Nice frameset - as feathers go however it won't really be that light!

provenance (past owner, purchaser) suggests it's definitely a george stokes.

    That's a gorgeous frame. I'm moved.

If you want a Langster that badly I'll do you a straight swap
'07 Langster (dropped one tooth from standard gearing)
'07 Tricross Sport with rack and guards
STUNNING custom 953 Bob Jackson *sigh*

Actually - having thought about it, the Langster is made of a lighter alloy, it's got that cool sloping compact geometry - and I've put some nice coloured tires on it and a charge saddle now...

Oh go on - I'll still do a swap as long as I get a high 5
