i have a little tub of the shimano dura-ace stuff and use it for everything - even on my new campag stuff
it's a little tub of thick bright green grease, seems fairly waterproof and does the job nicely0 -

Use Pedro's Syn Grease, since it comes whit a greaser, so you can put a small amount of grease, without a mess!!0

On bearings, seatpost and headset I use Finish Line Teflon, but on anything with a thread I use anti-seize copper grease. I'm sure the teflon grease would be fine for everything but I have a tub of anti-seize sitting about so I might as well use it for its intended purpose.0

I have a tin of copper-based grease I bought after one of the splined wire wheels on our Mk4 Austin-Healey Sprite seized on the hub (I had to chisel it off!). I'm sure its no longer available as it was marketed by BMC (British Motor Corporation for you youngsters ) but I'm sure there are substitutes available. My tin will outlast my requirements ( and those of my great-grandchildren - if I had any children even )
GeoffOld cyclists never die; they just fit smaller chainrings ... and pedal faster0 -
Castrol LM hub bearing grease as sold in 500g pots for about £5. Also use it for wheel bearings, headset bearings, bottom brackets and as a general anti-sieze.
I have never felt the need to pay over the odds for small tubes of grease and have never had any problems from using the Castrol. ... and I have been using the stuff for over 40 years.
Cheers, Phil0
