Will a cable outer fit through a hydraulic hose?

I have just bout a maxlight frame, and am currently going to be running it with v-brakes.

However, the cable guide along the top tube looks like this:

So when I run the brake cable through the middle guide, it doesn't fill the guide properly, is all loose in the guide and looks a mess.

My plan was to fit a length of hydraulic hose along the tob tube and thread the cable outer through it.

Will that work?

You might have to get some hose clamps from CRC etc, though these usually are for the reverse, hydro hoses into cable stops.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

    buy these http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=12004

or wrap the gear outer in electrical tape at the points where it'll push into the guides.

You could try put it through a hydro hose but i'm doubtful it'll work, seems alot of hassle if it doesn't

You'll need to do something or the ferrules won't have anything to push against. I converted a frame from hydraulics to Vs years ago and my LBS gave me some with widgets to place in the hydraulic hose bosses to run the Vs. They are the reverse of what redvee mentionned.
It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.

    I've bought a new bike....ouch - result
    Can I buy a new bike?...No - no result

Know anybody with a lathe? Get them to turn out some collars to fit into the hydro clips and then form a stop for the outer cable.
