Those of you with an interest in the science of doping will be interested by an article in this week's Economist. I'll summarise it quickly but it is worth reading - basically some scientists have found that the famed T/E ratio in testesterone tests is controlled by a gene.
We should have one copy of this gene but some of us have none and some have two. If you have no copies of it you'll get a false positive and if you have two copies you won't fail a t/e ratio test.
They reckon about 9% of an average white male sample population have no copies of this gene and the figure is higher for asia.
