Hello

A few days ago a got a suprise from my gf's parents when they told me they got given a bike frame for free as they know i love cycling and it turns out to be a Kuota Kharma

kharma.jpg

Its just a frame no forks unfortunily so i cannot see how well it will fit me, its a Medium frame so what height would that suit? Anybody who has one i would love to hear what they think of it.

Thanks

Michael

With or without forks, should be able to work it out from here:

    http://www.kuota.com.au/about/kharma.asp

has a link to geometry etc.

I've alwys thought that these are lovely looking frames!

yeah - lucky you - thats a sweet frame - hope it fits you ok.

if it helps, i'd probably have gone for the medium frame and I am 5ft 8 with a 31inch inside leg. I currently ride a size 54 specialized roubaix

i think its going to be too small for me as i am 6ft with about a 33inch inside leg, current frame is about 55-57cm from a quick measurement so opinions please as i do like it

Personally I think the frame should be fine for a 6 footer.

I'm 5'8 and would have gone for the S or even XS, and fitted a long stem.

Should make a nice aggressively position racing setup.

Says 53.5 top tube, so I'd say yes, too small. Tough luck.

    to reddraggon -

    really - you think so?

Hmm - the top tube length is pretty small on that size frame - 53cm top tube length - my 54 roubaix has a 54.8 effective - i wouldnt want to go too much smaller than that.

What size stem do you run on the Roubaix? After all it depends what you want to run the bike for - Bettini has a XS Tarmac.

I think with frames you can go quite a bit smaller by having a long seatpost and stem with some spacers but you can't make a frame that's far too big fit.

yeah true - I have a 100mm stem on it at the mo.

still though - if you want to retain the characteristics of he frame - so for example, my roubaix has a high headtube for a comfier position - the i think you need to try and get closer to what tha manufacturer designed for your size (if that makes sense - and it probably doesn't)

I'm 5'9" and ride a medium Kouta Kharma with 110mm stem.

Why not find a Kouta dealer and see if the medium fits you, you may get away with a longer stem and a seatpost with a little extra set back.

You got it for free... lucky so and so.

I'm 6 foot, and ride a Large Kharma and it fits (and rides) perfectly. I think that it may be a bit too small for you, although as already mentioned you may get away with fitting a longer stem.

Any idea why it hasn't got forks though? It could mean it's been crashed and the forks scrapped, in which case I wouldn't risk riding it if it's been in a heavy impact.
Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos

I don't know why it has no forks what i got told is a bike shop was throwing it out which means either crash or somebody may have upgrade :?, i would love to try one out for size but as i am on the isle of man and there are only two bike shops so is there any bikes that are very simlair gemoatry from giant, trek, specialzied, cannodale or scott as i can sit on any of these bikes.

Thanks for all the replies so far theres no rush to build it up
