About 18 months ago I bought a Trek 2000 which I'm very happy with. It has a standard Ultegra gear mechanism but now I'm getting ito hilly sportives I reckon I need easier gears.

I don't think it will be easy to convert it to a triple due to the changing mechanism but would it be possible to go compact??

Thanks,

David

compact will be easy - change chainset and lower the front mech

you could get a compact specific front mech, but doubt it is needed.

if it currenly has hollowtechII chainset then it s even easier - if not - look for good deals on something like a 105 compact chainset in hollowtechII BB - very good kit
